Branch Diary

Peter Wolstenholme

Artist, Fisherman and Birdwatcher, Peter started birding seriously in the late 80ís, and has led many of the branch outings over the years. In 1993 he became chairman of the West Cork Branch and has had an involvement since then. He has been IWeBS counter for Courtmacsherry Bay since 1994. He lives besides the Bay and his counts have been one of the reasons for the Bay being designated a SAC for birds. In October each year he opens the Crookhaven Bird Observatory, where a group of friends search for migrants on the Mizen peninsular. He retired from the production pottery he had run with his wife, Fran since 1974 in 2010, and now concentrates his artistic abilities on producing prints of the West Cork landscape and its birds.
