Old Head of Kinsale – Spring migration

8:30am    Meet at the car park opposite The Speckled Door (Grid Ref W 618 431; GPS 51.63973, -8.55133) for full day outing on foot.  Bring suitable clothing & picnic lunch.

4.30am    Meet at Long Strand car park on R598 5km east of Rosscarbery (Grid Ref. W 323 346 or GPS 51.56084, -8.97574)  for prompt start at 4:45am.  Bacon Butty Bird Van will be in operation afterwards.

Saturday 2nd June 2018 ***CHANGE OF LOCATION***

Due to our planned outing to Sherkin on Saturday 2 June coinciding with a weekend electronic music festival on the island, we are cancelling this trip.  Instead, we are are meeting at Cape Clear Bird Observatory at 11:15am. For this travelling from Baltimore, the ferry departs at 10:30am.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused

11:15am         Meet at Cape Clear Bird Observatory (ferry from Baltimore leaves at 10.30am).   Bring suitable footwear and clothing and a picnic lunch.  Ferry departs Cape Clear at 4.30pm.

Saturday 14th July 2018

Beach clean up

10:00am       Meet at Inchydoney beach for an hour or two helping to clean the dunes. 

Every year millions of tons of trash end up in the ocean. It is estimated that by 2050 there could be more plastic than fish in its waters. Help us make a difference by joining a clean-up of Inchydoney beach. Bring the family and enjoy a day out at this spectacular beach while playing your part in keeping our coasts clean.

This is a joint event with Cork Nature Network, BirdWatch Ireland West Cork Branch and Clonakilty Tidy Towns.

For those interested in getting involved in this wetland survey & want to learn more, or who are already involved & want to help improve its coverage & implementation in West Cork.

National Heritage Week - Family Event at Rosscarbery

2:30pm         Meet at Celtic Ross Hotel Rosscarbery (OSI ref W 286 363; GPS 51.57564, -9.02925) and find out more about the birds that use the estuary on migration and during the winter.  No more than two hours.
